Renovation of damaged exhibition areas with DUCON35

The Porsche Experience Center (PEC) has been the heart of the Leipzig site for over 20 years. In the building, which is also known as a diamond because of its shape, visitors can view historic and current Porsche models. It also offers a view of the production halls and the 3.7 km long test track, which are also located at the site.

Due to the vibration behavior of the round floor and the gallery under the load of the cars, floor tiles kept breaking before the renovation. This problem was solved with a decoupled 35-40 mm thin DUCON layer over the area of approx. 2,300 m2 spread over two floors.

After concreting the pre-leveling, the reinforcement work began on the fourth floor of the PEC. Despite the round, complex layout of the area, the reinforcement was laid quickly and precisely. This meant that the concrete could be poured just seven days after work began. Another seven days later, the third floor was concreted. Thanks to the good preparatory work, no advance leveling was necessary here. The reinforcement could be laid directly on the milled surface.

For the concreting, over 200 meters of hose were laid through a stairwell and on the surface. A Y-distributor was also installed on the level itself. This made it possible for two teams to pour the concrete at the same time, working in opposite directions on the ring-shaped surface and meeting up again to complete the pour.

Within just three weeks, it was possible to complete the advance leveling and the reinforcement and concreting work on both levels. Just a few days after concreting the upper level, the tiler was able to start work. The historic Porsche models will be displayed on these tiles in the future.
