As part of the energy efficiency project ETA-Fabrik (Energy Efficiency, Technology and Application Center) of the TU Darmstadt, the outer shell of the hall was made of 11 m long and 5.5 cm thin DUCON® panels with thermal activation. The thermal activation of the DUCON® panels was achieved by installing capillary tube mats in the existing micro-reinforcement. The scientific monitoring of the ETA project showed that the DUCON® slabs behave much more agile in the change of temperature than a conventional reinforced concrete component activation. DUCON® slabs can therefore also be used as heat storage in addition to their use as direct heating.
