The DUCON technology enables components to be produced which, whilst offering comparable performance, are only about a third of the thickness and weight of conventional reinforced concrete solutions. High-performance concrete thus opens up new possibilities wherever conventional construction methods reach their limits – from extremely slender façades and structural reinforcements to explosion protection for critical infrastructure.
The fact that this technology is already being used in a wide range of applications is demonstrated, amongst other things, by projects in New York, at JFK Airport, at embassies and in the extension to the Federal Chancellery.
The discussion will cover, amongst other things, how using less material can lead to greater performance, the role that high-performance concrete plays in the preservation of existing buildings, and how shelters can be constructed in a modular and transportable manner.
